19-year-old Man Impregnates 11-year-old Girl

A 19-year-old Michigan Man has been charged with three counts of criminal sexual conduct after having sexual intercourse with an 11-year-old girl, according to reports.

Blake Blythe of Ecorse is accused of having a sexual relationship with the girl and impregnating her last summer.

“Not guilty by reason of insanity. He will be sent to forensics center in Ypsilanti,” Richard Glanda, Blythe’s attorney said, according to Click On Detroit.

The mother of Blake Blyth and the girl’s mom have also been charged because they were aware of the relationship. According to police, both mothers consented to the two having sex.

Both of the women have been charged and convicted of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and each received one year of probation. They are not allowed to have unsupervised contact with any minor under the age of 17.

According to Glanda, the 11-year-old has been removed from the house, along with a younger sibling. Neither of them are currently being allowed any unsupervised contact with their mom. The baby is being cared for by the 11-year-old mother.

Blake Blythe is currently in custody held in lieu of $1 million bond an could face a life sentence.

Pinnacle DVD Maker Deluxe

What’s that acrid odor in the air? Could it be the smell of’excitement? Yes, it’s time again for another installment of ???Ask an Incontinent Viking,??? the gadget column hosted by Fjafalgnjir the Vexed, an 11th-century Danish warrior transported into a modern world he never made. Fjafalgnjir certainly never expected to be vaulted hundreds of years into the future, nor did he expect to lose control of his bowels in the process. But like any good Viking, he’s soldiered onward, and he’s ready to do battle with your electronics questions.

Q. I have hundreds of hours of home movies taken from the 1980’s through the later 1980’s, all on VHS tape. I’m concerned that this historically important document ‘ including six minutes of the Statue of Liberty when it had all that scaffolding around it, and some revelatory parachute-pants footage ‘ will be lost to history as the tapes decay. How can I preserve this essential piece of our cultural patrimony?

A. The heavy tread of time stamps many a VHS tape ???neath its boot, leaving your home movies looking as though Gj??lp and Greip, twin giantess daughters of fearsome Geirrr, had frolicked ???pon them. No more, vow I! Pinnacle DVD Maker Deluxe includes a plug-and-play video capture device, and by the chill winds of Nifleheim, ye shall ‘ oooh, ooh, wait, wait, be right back.

OK, ???twas a fray raging inside my gut. But fear not, peace reigns again. Like I was saying, the plug-and-play video capture device features both USB 2.0 and FireWire/DV ports, so you just connect the capture device to your PC, hook up your VHS player to the capture device, and record the video directly to DVD, without saving it on your hard drive. Thus shall your home movies live as long as if they’d eaten the apples of I’unn!

Q. I was excited to get a computer with a DVD burner, but I’ve found the whole process horribly confusing, and I’m afraid I might hurt myself. There’s got to be a better way! How can a person of limited computer acumen like me create high-quality DVDs? Give me hope, Incontinent Viking!

A. Hold the battle, timorous one, for hope ye shall have! Neither the patricidal dwarf F??fnir nor all the armies of King Haki can stay the hand of the Pinnacle DVD Maker Deluxe. Hailed for its user-friendly interface and robust functionality, the included software makes DVD creation as easy as, er, and, uh, wolves tear at my bowels! At such times I must needs flee, to seek relief!

Whew! OK, I’m back. With this software, just a few mouse clicks will enable you to create DVDs complete with menus and chapter marks impish squirrel of Yggdrasil, sows discord through his deceits. Tis a miracle indeed, a gift from Odin to all of Midgard! I really should get going soon, but maybe I have time for one more question’

Q. What’s the biggest difference between the 21st century and the 11th?

A. By the hoary hosts of Hogarth, my profane affliction doth render me most appreciative of the wonders of 21st century toiletry! If you’d seen some of the holes I’ve had to squat over’and I’m telling you, the subzero temperatures didn’t help. Speaking of which ‘ uh, help me, Odin ‘ I really need to -

Ray Allen

Choosing veteran talent over youth, the Celtics completed a trade with the Seattle SuperSonics during the NBA draft last night, acquiring 31-year-old shooting guard Ray Allen and the No. 35 overall pick in exchange for small forward Wally Szczerbiak, point guard Delonte West, and the No. 5 pick.

Selecting for Seattle, Boston picked Georgetown forward Jeff Green at No. 5. Seattle general manager Sam Presti confirmed the deal midway through the first round.

????Boston really pursued this,???? Presti told reporters in Seattle. ????What started as a smaller conversation became fulfilled. Their pursuit was impeccable.

????We??re thrilled to have [No. 2 pick] Kevin [Durant], but at the same time to make the decision to move a player and a person like Ray Allen was tremendously difficult.????

Allen gives the Celtics one of the best shooters in the game, though scoring has not been a problem for the team. While Paul Pierce may be smiling knowing the Celtics listened to his long-held preference for an experienced player, it remains to be seen how the All-Stars will work as teammates. Both Pierce and Allen like the ball in their hands. The other question about Allen concerns his health, considering he underwent surgery on both ankles in early April to remove bone spurs.

Conservapedia

Convinced that Wikipedia has a liberal bias, New Jersey attorney Andy Schlafly (son of Phyllis) last November launched Conservapedia.

The Los Angeles Times today calls the site a “conservative’s answer to Wikipedia.” It writes that:

Many, perhaps most, of Conservapedia’s articles are free of ideology. There are brisk, straightforward entries about hundreds of topics: the tuba, Claude Monet, the nation of Latvia, Robin Hood, polygons, the Renaissance.

But consider the entry on Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton (b. 1947). She “may suffer from a psychological condition that would raise questions about her fitness for office” — namely, “clinical narcissism,” Conservapedia asserts. Evidence of her instability includes her “ever-changing opinion of the Iraq war.” Though Schlafly demands that entries be rigorously footnoted, these sentences are not.

Schlafly calls the armchair psychology “borderline in acceptability” for his site, but he defends the Clinton article on balance as “an objective, bias-free piece from a conservative perspective.”

The whole point of his encyclopedia, he said, is to provide a different angle on the facts — ones that a student researcher wouldn’t necessarily find on Wikipedia, or in the school library.

Should You Buy an iPhone?

The most eagerly awaited cell phone ever is upon us Friday. Should you resist the iPhone’s breathless hype, or take the plunge? Unless you’re already standing in line outside an Apple or AT&T store, or are prepared to mug one of the first customers to come out after the 6 p.m. launch, the answer, at least for now, will have to be “let me think about it for a week or two.”

The level of hype and demand for Apple Inc.’s phone is reminiscent of the debut of the PlayStation 3 game console in November, when minor riots broke out at some electronics stores. However, eBay prices for resold PS3s quickly fell, and two months later the console was in ample supply.

Apparently, much of the initial demand came from people who weren’t really interested in getting them for themselves, but counted on being able to sell them to people who were.

It’s quite possible that the iPhone will be subject to the same demand bubble. Check with the stores a month from now: If they have iPhones in stock, the bloom may be off the rose.

Hype aside, the iPhone is a radical design, a sliver of a device with a 3.5-inch glass screen and very few buttons. The iPhone differs by being designed to be touched with the fingertips rather than a stylus, making it a greater departure from the PC experience. (There have been several expensive phones with large touch screens before, generally using Windows Mobile software.)

The iPhone does e-mail, Web browsing, music and videos. It comes in two models _ $499 for a 4-gigabyte version and $599 for 8 gigabytes of memory _ and requires a two-year contract with AT&T Inc.

That’s the basics. Here’s a breakdown of who might want to consider an iPhone and who shouldn’t:

_ The music listener _ Possibly. The big screen will make it easy to navigate a large music collection. A feature called Cover Flow shows your album covers like they’re pages of an open book. However, the storage capacity is smaller than today’s full-size iPods. The 4-gigabyte version fits about 800 songs, the 8-gigabyte version 1,800. The memory is not upgradable or expandable with external cards, so the 8-gig version is probably the one to get. Apple puts the battery life at 24 hours of audio playback, which is good.

_ The video watcher _ Sure, get one. The screen is twice as large as that of the video iPod, and the resolution, at 320 pixels by 480 pixels, is twice as high. The smaller memory capacity is going to mean frequent syncing with a computer, but the bigger screen will make it worth it. Definitely get the 8-gigabyte version, which will fit about 9 hours of video if that’s all you keep on the gadget.

The iPhone also can access some YouTube videos, but since it relies on a relatively slow data network, access could be spotty, unless you’re using its other built-in wireless technology: Wi-Fi. Other Web video will mostly be inaccessible, since the browser doesn’t play Flash content, but that may change.

Paris Hilton Goes Free

Hotel heiress Paris Hilton, fresh from her jail cell, is to appear tonight on CNN’s “Larry King Live.”

But if you don’t want to watch, you aren’t alone.
Hilton served 23 days of a 45-day sentence for violating her probation on an alcohol-related reckless driving charge. Media coverage hit a crescendo June 8 (with helicopters!) when she was ordered back to jail after a two-day stint under house arrest.
The lower-key response to her release Tuesday suggests that media saturation for Hilton has hit a wall.
The most recent sign hits newsstands Friday, when celebrity gossip staple Us Weekly will publish its first “100 percent Paris-Free” issue.
“It seems to be a national witch hunt, and a lot of people in America would like to burn her at the stake,” editor Janice Min said.

Melanie McGuire

As Melanie McGuire sits in jail awaiting sentencing for killing and dismembering her husband, her explanation of William T. McGuire’s disappearance will air Tuesday on national television in an interview taped before a Middlesex County jury found her guilty in April of the brutal murder.

While McGuire repeatedly professed her innocence during the interview, she acknowledged the evidence investigators compiled against her appeared extensive. “It’s a mountain, it is a mountain, it’s a lot of coincidences,” McGuire told ABC News Primetime, in an interview recorded between the end of the trial and before the jury began deliberating in New Brunswick. “I know why I’m sitting here, I know exactly why I’m sitting here. It doesn’t mean that I did it, though.”

McGuire, a 34-year-old fertility clinic nurse, did not testify in her own defense during the trial. The interview with ABC News correspondent Cynthia McFadden, scheduled to air at 10 p.m. Tuesday but made available in advance, marks McGuire’s first extensive public statements since she was charged.

McGuire was found guilty of drugging, murdering and cutting up William McGuire in their Woodbridge townhouse in April 2004. Prosecutors argued she wrapped his remains in plastic bags, placed them in three designer suitcases, drove to Virginia and tossed them off the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel.

She faces 50 years to life in prison when she is sentenced July 19 in the Middlesex County Courthouse. McGuire’s defense attorneys announced last week plans to seek a new murder trial based on a witness who came forward after the guilty verdict with information about a $90,000 debt the witness believes William McGuire owed to a loan shark. The defense argued during the trial that McGuire was killed because of gambling debts.

“The bottom line is, Am I an angel? Am I perfect person? Absolutely not. But that doesn’t make me a sociopath, or a killer,” McGuire said in the ABC interview.
